This week the focus of our lab will be on ingredients selection, measuring and recipe reading. The recipe we're using is a basic oatmeal cookie recipe but students will work with a partner to select key ingredients to understand how the ingredients work when baking with them. There will be a cookie design lesson to learn about the science of the ingredients before the baking lab. On Friday there will be a stovetop mac & cheese demo, which students will be making next week.
Early Dismissal Days - February 8 & 9 for Parent-Teacher Interviews
This week we will continue with classroom review to prepare for next week's cooking lab. There will also be a mini-demo for Italian soda on Friday. Reminder - any student with allergies and/or dietary restrictions must fill in the welcome letter and have a parent/guardian sign. Failure to do so will result in alternate food items not being available. See the first post of the quarter for a copy of the welcome letter. |
