The first project for term 2 sewing enrichment is a zipper pouch. The original pattern is from The Sewing Chick. To simplify the pattern we are using a solid piece of fabric for the outer layers. http://www.thesewingchick.com/2015/06/zipper-pouch-tutorial.html/
Congrats to the sewing students for completing their projects! Here are the instructions for the drawstring bag:
Station 2 - Backstitch The back stitch is usually sewn with a single thread and creates a strong, secure seam. The front of the stitch should lie in a neat row, and the back will look like longer overlapping stitches. Video Tutorial: Station 3 - Overstitch Often used on a raw edge of a fabric that tends to fray. Video Tutorial: Station 4 - Fell Stitch This stitch is used as an applique stitch to join one layer of fabric to another. Video Tutorial: Station 5 - Blanket Stitch This stitch is simple and easy, yet a beauty. It is called balnket stitch as traditionally, it is used to stitch the edges of blankets. Video Tutorial: Welcome to my new group! I look forward to the next 10 weeks together. We have a range of skills from beginners to advanced sewers. We will start with sewing basics: parts of a machine, threading a machine, winding and threading a bobbin, and practice stitching.
