This week it's all about kitchen safety, sanitation and learning the routines of the classroom in advance of our first cooking lab next week. Students will complete a unit snoop activity, learning the names and locations of common cooking tools. Reminder to bring a duotang from home to keep your class work organized.
Reminder - students must fill in the welcome letter and have a parent/guardian sign. Failure to do so will result in alternate food items not being available for students with allergies and/or dietary restrictions. See the first post of the quarter for a copy of the letter. Welcome to Quarter 2 Food Studies Exploratory! This week we will be discussing classroom routines and spending some time getting to know each other. Next week students will be learning about safety and sanitation in preparation of the upcoming cooking labs. Attached is a copy of the course outline and the welcome letter, this letter is handed out to new students and those with allergies and/or dietary restrictions I need to be aware of. Reminder to bring either a duotang or folder to be left in the class, this will be returned at the end of the quarter with all of the work we have done over 10-weeks. You can purchase a duotang from Mrs. Luthin for 50 cents.
This is the last full week of quarter one exploratory classes! Last Friday was a demo class for our two-day lab this week, Caesar salad with bacon.
