The time has come for the student favourite lab, caesar salad with bacon! This will be a two-day lab as there are components that take too long for just one class. Each kitchen will be making homemade croutons and a mayo-based salad dressing. There is also the option to add fresh cooked bacon to individual salads.
This week we will learn about measuring basics before making mummy pumpkin tarts as a kitchen. Each student will have two delicious, pumpkin cheesecake tarts to enjoy or share.
This week students are learning about the four principle of food safety: cook, clean, separate, chill. The lab is BBQ chicken quesadillas with a focus on food safety.
No school Monday, Thanksgiving Day.
Our focus this week is on kitchen safety when using stoves and knives. Students are making grilled cheese sandwiches with the option to customize their sandwiches with mustard, ham and/or tomatoes. Students will practice knife skills by slicing apples. Parent-Teacher Conferences:
Students participated in a teacher-led demo last week and are making granola for their second lab. We are still focusing on kitchen safety and learning lab routines. This will be a big lab for measuring skills! |
