This week we are completing another baking lab, focusing on the biscuit method making lemon butter scones. Each kitchen will work together as there are many components to this recipe, and following the proper method will ensure you have a delicious product. On Friday we will have a review lesson on chicken lab safety in advance of the chicken stir fry lab next week.
We are cooking all three classes this week. Kitchens are working together to make pumpkin spice muffins with a focus on measuring accuracy. The other two classes we are making soft pizza pretzels, a 2-day process to allow the dough to rest and rise in the fridge.
This week we are making a fairly simple recipe but always a student favourite, jalapeno popper wonton cups. The focus for this lab will be on safety while working with fresh jalapenos.
No school Monday, Thanksgiving Day
This week students are reviewing important concepts of food safety and cross-contamination in preparation of the taco salad lab. Each kitchen will work together to cook the taco meat and prep veggies, but each student will make their own salad. On Friday we will have an herb and spice lab to learn about several different herbs and spices.
